I don’t know about Sprint, you might be able to get your answer if you call Sprint’s customer service line 1-888-211-4727. However, since you’re under 18, you should be grateful your parents care enough about you to “keep” tabs on you. I know it sucks, but it does mean they worry about you. Perhaps if you were to directly ask them maybe both sides could come to some kind of agreement, say you get your own phone, but you pay the fees for your using it to your parents. That way, since you’d be paying your share, they might be less tempted to check up on you.

You will need to call your provider to get an exact number. If you have been with them for any length of time they will knock some money off, but not near the amount of the last 2 months of your contract.

The easiest way of transferring your data would be to use the Device switch feature of Desktop Manager. Not only will it move you SMS and email it will move your settings and applications too.

Some websites do send music etc to your phone via text messaging but this service costs a bomb! If you’ve got WAP/GPRS (i.e. The mobile internet) on your phone, I suggest that you do what I did before I got my new phone. Just download what you want to your computer and then upload them to a free website. NB. These websites have a limit on the size of the file that you can download, so try not to upload anything too big (a common site is something like 200KB).

The websites I use for this are:

www.esato.com

You have to register to use this service but it’s free.

Simple and easy to use.

Another thing you might want to do is get a friend with a computer cable to download what you want and send it to you either as a picture message or via infra red, if your phone has it (look for squares on the top, bottom or side of your phone-make sure that the square on your friend’s phone and yours are very close together and your infra red reception is activated. Otherwise, it won’t work).

Hope this works!

admin answers:

It’s most likely a third party application that may potentially have a cost associated with it. If so, the charge would show up on your monthly bill. Have you ever seen the commercials for a service called Jamster with the dancing teddy bear? On the screen is a short code, such as the one you listed above. If you send a text message to the short code, you get a “free” ringtone and in the small print at the bottom of the screen you will see that a $9.99 charge is associated with this service. It is possible he may have signed up for a similar service not knowing that a charge would occur. Someone else may have typed his number in by mistake, hence why he is receiving text messages from this third party.

Send the word ‘stop’ to 46331 and he won’t receive another text from them. It is likely your wireless carrier can credit you for the charges, if any apply.

No website will trace it for free, and that isn’t something you want to do. You should always contact your wireless carrier first. Some carriers, like Verizon, offer ways to block incoming text messages. It is this new service called E Block. It means emergency block. You can block text messages from coming in…but not calls. Other wireless carriers are adopting this service…so contact them.

If they make you fear for your life, are threatening, or it is otherwise objectionable…contact your local police department and file a report.

Why does my Samsung Mythic not automatically delete SMS messages even though I have it set on auto delete?

Whenever my inbox gets full, it says to delete some SMS text messages, but I have it set to auto-delete. Why won’t it just delete the messages by itself since that’s what I have on my settings? Is there some discrepancy of some sort? I’ve only had this phone for two weeks and I have been taking good care of it.
Yes, I have it set to the right auto delete setting – “Oldest when full,” but it still tells me to delete SMS text messages.

I am making the assumption that you are on BT (the main UK phone company) as this is in UK and Ireland questions! If you are on Virgin, you’ll need to call them. BT have a special freephone number for controlling their SMS to call service which is 0800 587 5252. You can either allow messages at any time, between 9am-9pm, 8am-11pm, 12am-6am or block them altogether. Hope this helps you out.

Follow the Uwise info!

Messenger “9″ 1st version was in Beta (testing) form. The newest version is not, But it’s not working well either.Try using 8.1 “the newest before 9″, until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 or older versions trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems; like text not showing, pictures not showing.Chat rooms not found or opening. It shuts down on Vista users , not allowing people to log in.Web cams do not always work. Many things do not work or are missing that YM 8.1 has. It Seems for Vista users it is so buggy Yahoo is giving up on it and are no longer trying to fix it. Http://www.ymessengerblog.com/blog/2008/…
You need to remove version 9 completely 1st to Get version 8 to work best.Left over files and fragments from using control panel to remove messenger can cause problems/conflicts with the new download.
Use this method: Start,My PC, C drive, open Program files.Next open Yahoo file then Messenger file.Click on UNWISE to Un install messenger 9 completely. Do not just delete yahoo file as this can cause problems with other Yahoo programs.
Download the newest 8.1 here http://download.yahoo.com/dl/msgr8/us/ym…
Your contacts list and messages are stored online and will be there when you return to 8.1 messenger.
And it works well with Vista.
Another big problem is with the latest update for Flash Player
Flash player 10 Does have conflicts and is causing things to not load or just crash upon opening..Use the link below for a download of Flash player # 9.0.124.0 . You have to remove the present flash player,add/remove programs in control panel,Reboot then download from here.

Some people are losing signal, things fade out, freezing up or getting disconnected . This can be caused my running low on virtual memory! You can increase your memory by going to start button, settings, control panel, system, advance tab, performance, advance tab, virtual memory, change it, make it 1500 kb or higher, In both boxes, click apply then ok . This applys for all instant messengers,MSN, Yahoo, skype ect.

How to disable read-only mode in Microsoft Word documents?

admin answers:

If you’re seeing this message on the status bar at the bottom of the Word window: “This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked”, you have a free trial copy of Microsoft Office that was good for 25 uses (of all Office programs combined) or 60 days. At the end of that time it stops letting you edit your files or create new ones. You have to purchase Microsoft Office 2010, or at least Word 2010, to do that.

Note: The 25-character product key on the computer case or laptop bottom is NOT the key for MS Office. It’s only for the Windows operating system.

Here are some of your options for legally paying less than full price for Microsoft Office 2010:

First, if you’re a student, you may qualify for the Office 2010 Professional Academic edition at a pretty good price ($79.95):

http://www.microsoft.com/student/

Second, if you’re interested in buying just Word, check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.

Also, if you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2010 file format (.docx), here’s a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word (and Microsoft Works) to read and write Word 2010 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents. Some new features of Word 2010 will be lost or converted to straight text in the conversion to the earlier version.

Good luck.

Text messaging is the most popular form of communication in China. Six hundred million Chinese have cell phones — that’s twice the population of the United States and three times the number of Chinese with Internet access.

Text messages are cheaper than a phone call by about half. No one in China has voice mail, so it’s the surest way to get a message to someone.

Although the Chinese language has thousands of individual characters, most phones have software that uses English letters to represent the sounds of particular characters.

I can make that argument using only two, very simple graphics.

Two photographs of a large, ripe apple. One is in crisp black and white and the other in a decent color print.

Show them to an audience and ask one question. Which image makes you want to take a bite?

Then wrap it up by stating that, if the corporate business requires it’s print output to make a similar statement, then it should be a “no-brainer” choice.

If I were tasked with making the case for color printing, instead of taking up valuable company resources by having a seminar, I’d launch an internal e-mail campaign, where I’d send out one, company-wide e-mail with the two images attached and a request that the answer to that question be sent back.

Then, I’d repost the results of this informal “poll” to show that, corporate-wide, virtually EVERYONE agrees on the impact a color image makes.

Then, as the printing equipment gets put in place, I’d follow up with a brief posting on appropriate use of color. After all, a six or eight page text document printed in red ink is difficult to read and hard on the eyes. Business letters going out do not convey a professional demeanor if done in various colors. But some graphs, charts and other kinds of graphics ARE better at conveying certain messages if presented in color.

The campaign could be done with a total of three emails, at minimal cost in time, space and money. I’ve seen WAY too many hours wasted in company seminars and meetings that could have been better handled by a few emails and phone calls.

Why Would a Guy Do This? Was It Just a Coincidence or Was He Trying to Make Me Jealous?

A month ago I got a random facebook message from a guy I met in college. We exchanged numbers over fb and have been texting on and off ever since. (He even texted me once asking if I wanted to go to dinner with him, but I was too busy unfortunately since I own a small business.) When I see him randomly we’ll hug, and he’ll compliment my clothes and jewelry.

HOWEVER, for the past two weeks he’s been texting me first and when I’d respond he wouldn’t answer me. Then he’d text me many days later apologizing and claiming he was “feeling antisocial/tired/working, etc. But once when I checked his twitter, I saw that he had made plans to chat with a girl online after work. He texted me early the next morning apologizing about how he was SO tired after work, and went to bed right away, which wasn’t true.

He ignored my last text to him for 7 days (when he texted *me* first) BUT THEN, he texted me on Christmas morning at 8:00am apologizing for his late replies, claiming it was because of work/feeling anti-social. He wished me a merry Christmas, and I texted him back hours later and wished him a good one as well. On the 27th he texted me saying that we “had to discuss DJango. We HAVE to.” Since both happened to see it on Christmas – separately. I chose to ignore his text for the 1st time ever. The next day he made a “Birthday Event” on Facebook, and invited me.
I didn’t respond to it yet and don’t plan to go. Today on my facebook I posted a picture of the late Christmas gift I received from a friend (female) in Alaska today – we been talking online for months. I wrote in the caption”from Alaska with love.” Checked his Twitter account and saw that he uploaded a screenshot of himself and a girl he’s apparently been skyping online lately. In the caption he wrote “After a wonderful skype session. #lovealwaysloser.” (It was posted an hour after my facebook photo) Is this a coincidence or payback for my facebook photo to make me jealous? Or what?

If he liked me and misinterpreted the gift in the photo as being from a long distance boyfriend, and was jealous of it why didn’t he show more interest in me before?

Was I cruel by asking my boyfriend to leave?

My boyfriend had come to see me in NC from NYC for a week, then asked to stay 2 weeks because apparently his female roommate tried to kiss him and he felt uncomfortable. We weren’t together very long when he asked to stay with me. I felt uncomfortable telling him no because he didn’t have anywhere to stay. So I thought he would get his own place in two weeks. When the two weeks were up he decided that he feels he wants to take a step back and generally just walks out of a relationship, but says to me, but I really like you. He said we should be dating not living with one another. I told him I gave you a place to stay temporary as your roommate in NY made a pass at you and because you were able to work here I said OK. I don’t recall us moving in together so telling me let’s take a step back is hurtful because I never did a thing to deserve this. I asked him so what are you going to do about it? And he said I will get my own place. So two weeks later he is still in my house and I figured it was because he only had a bike and not a car and if he stayed with his friend he would have to ride 26 miles each way by. Of course he didn’t tell me this directly, but made a comment about the 26 miles. Then I told him I thought you were moving out. I don’t want to ruin what we have and I do think it is a better idea to have our own places. We got a long so well, but he was freaked out. So then again being he was still looking for a place says to me we should really be dating, then I said well you are still living here, how can we date? I think this is your issue at this point and if you don’t like me just tell me. So we go out and have fun on a few dates. A week later he says have you ever thought about moving to Europe (which is where he is from, but has been in the states for 14 years.) I said I would consider it, but would need time to plan and a job. I said why, are you thinking about moving to Europe, he said yes but not sure. I said if you want to go and I can’t come with you I want you to be happy, but will be sad if you do leave. So three weeks later he goes to Europe, doesn’t call me, only a few text message due to me texting him via Facebook. I was hurt because I thought he would have missed me. He comes back and says he will be home at 10 pm which is when his flight gets in. Never comes home and then sends a text at 10pm to say his flight was delayed until the morning. I checked the flights and it arrived on time. He basically sent me a text when he landed. For three days checked into a hotel and his excuse for not seeing me is he was shopping for apartments. He got home on Thursday and didn’t come to see me until Monday. My first question is if you haven’t seen someone for 3 weeks how can you wait 3 days to see them. Then he writes me a sweet note saying Monday night will be nice…I was like why wouldn’t he want a romantic evening over the weekend? I did ask him this and he couldn’t answer me. It was as if he felt guilty of something. So for the next few days he treated me like gold and then said he really cared about me and realized he wants to stay here in the states. I was so happy and just figured maybe we needed the distance and to just start new and let the whole vacation situation go. He was stresses about a lot of things so I was trying to relax. Now it is three weeks later and I went to NY for a business trip. He sends a text saying I should move back to NY because it is where I belong and he knows I don’t like where I live. Then says that he plans to move back to Europe next year if all goes well. I asked him why are we together and you are staying with me if that is your plan. He said I have had time alone while you were away to really think about where I feel happier living and it is in my heart. Maybe we can be friends, your such a nice person and I am not good at romantic stuff. I told him you change your mind a lot. And I said I feel like you used me….and he said “really” I said yes. One day you are happy with me, then you don’t call me for three weeks while in Europe (BTW he has the money to call, he blew 10k while he was away and hanging with friends) and now you are living in my home and breaking up with me via text while I am working at 2pm in the afternoon. I was really hurt. I should have dumped him a month ago, but because he was so hurt when he wife left him (whom he is still friends with and I found out they are still just separated.) six years ago and I was the first persom whom he wanted a relationship with. I guessed he up and down was him trying to trust again. Anyway, it was driving me crazy and even though I cared a hec of a lot I just didn’t know if I could deal with an emotional roller coaster. So after I told him were you using me because it kind of felt that way…I did feel he cared too though. He told me I was being childish…Now he insults me, so I asked him to leave my house. Was I cruel?
Also, 10 minutes later I told him if I cared about someone I would include that person in my plans. Even though we haven’t been together for years if next year comes and we feel we are right for one another then I would be interested in going to Europe with you. He said he feels the same. So I said I would have never asked you to leave if you told me this instead you said let’s be friends. I said well let’s talk when I get home and he said too late I already booked a hotel for a month. Then I got back to talk with him and told him I was hurt he did not call me to see me in person. He said your hurt LOL, first you blow up on me and then ask me to leave and I had to find other accomodations. He said don’t call me again, your an As**hole.

admin answers:

Instructions

        1

Determine how and where you will get your start up money. For any new business that is starting from the ground up, seed money is needed. Figure out the best way to get money to invest in your teen dance club, be it from monetary gifts from family members or through a business loan. If you opt to apply for a business loan, you will need to draft a sound business plan explaining what the goals of your club are and how you plan to run it and succeed in this particular business. When you are doing so, keep in mind that you will constantly have to come up with innovative ways to capture the attention of your teenage clientele; kids are fickle, and what’s hot, fresh and exciting today is usually stale within two weeks.
2

Scout out locations throughout your community. The more accessible your teenage dance club is, the more likely it is to succeed. If possible, choose a location that kids can access on their own, without having to ask a parent or family member to drive them there. Not only is this safer because teenagers are certainly not known for their expert driving skills, but with neighborhoods — think family members — nearby, you are more likely to see appropriate behavior from your customers.

        3

Get the right types of insurance. Every business needs insurance and the types of insurance for this type of club would likely include general liability, property insurance, accidental injury and of course, for the employees, workers’ compensation for your employees. Liability is the more expensive of the group. Check the Resources section below for more information about club insurers. To be sure you know exactly what kind of insurance your teen club needs, send an inquiry to the relevant department in your state government (this may be Business, Commerce, or Insurance) and find out what kind of insurance you will need for your club to cater to a teenager clientele.
4

Determine what type of atmosphere your club will have. Do you want your dance club to be low-key and more of a spot for teenagers in your community to hang out? Or do you want to replicate the high-energy clubs frequented by college students? You must first determine your direction before you can proceed so you know the proper way to market yourself.
5

Take your time and carefully hire knowledgeable staff. Working with teenagers takes a special kind of patience. After all, they are going through some many new experiences, both physically and emotionally, so they can be moody, combative, overexcited, loud, obnoxious and rude. You need to hire staff members that don’t mind working with people like this and can resolve problems without losing their temper. People who have worked in schools or community centers will not only know how to deal with problems, but may also have ideas on how to promote positive, healthy activity through camaraderie and re-direction versus confrontation and violence. It is also important to hire a DJ that is knowledge about about today’s music; the first thing that will run your club right into the ground is a mix of music that is nowhere near what teenagers today are listening to.
6

Put together a promotional team of teenagers to help spread the word. Keep in mind that traditional forms of advertising likely won’t work here. You will need to reach the kids in the same ways that they communicate these days, meaning cell phone text messages (this is where your promotional team comes in handy, as they can capture the contact information of the members of their individual peer group) and social media outlets. The most popular — and the ones that will help you be successful — are MySpace and Facebook. Put together pages on both of these sites and begin to collect “friends.” This will give you an easy way to spread the word about your new club and generate excitement!

I’d say if your 13 y/o relies on phones a lot and talks to all his/her friends constantly you need 1000 minutes. Considering the fact that if they are on the IN network it’s 0 minutes as they are verizon users. Texting GET A PLAN. You should definitely get either a 500/1500 messaging plan. Texts are used up faster then you think considering both INCOMING/OUTGOING messages count for one. I don’t recommend verizon as they are overpriced and besides their v-cast they are more business oriented rather residential use.

However, viruses *can* spread via multimedia (MMS) messages. In fact, several such viruses already exist – the CommWarrior family being the most widespread one but there are also others (e.g., Mabir).

As a consequence of the above, you *do* need anti-virus protection for some cell phones.

It is important to note, however, that not all cell phones are vulnerable to viruses. Basically, only the phones using the Symbian S60 v8.x operating system are seriously threatened. (Although proof-of-concept viruses also exist for phones running the PalmOS, Windows Mobile and Symbian UIQ operating systems, they have no chances of surviving in the wild.)

No, it’s not a licenced agency in the Philippines.

This means it is a fake job scam.

Things to look for to confirm that it is a scam are:

1. Telephone numbers beginning +4470. These are designed to make it look as though you are calling the UK, in fact these numbers can be redirected anywhere in the world and are usually premium rate. No reputable UK business would use them.

2. Free email accounts such as yahoo, live.com etc. No reputable UK business ever uses free email accounts.

3. Any request for payment by Western Union. This method of payment is NEVER used by UK businesses. They all have bank accounts so do not need to receive payments this way. It is untraceable and irretrievable.

4. Any suggestion that you contact an agency, lawyer, UKBA or any other organisation or individual in the UK to process work documentation. The only document that needs processing is your visa and this is never done in the UK, but always in your own country. You would need to have been issued with a certificate of sponsorship by your employer which you submit with your documents to the British Embassy in Manila. There you would be fingerprinted and photographed. You pay £270 direct to VFS Global who manage the visa process on behalf of UKBA in Manila and you are issued with your visa. There are no other documents that you have to apply for and no other costs.

5. Offers of a job without interviewing. UK employers must be licenced to employ non EEA nationals and have to go through a lengthy and detailed recruitment process to employ them rather than UK/EEA nationals. They would not be able to employ someone legally whom they had not interviewed in person.

6. Work visas are impossible to get if you do not have at least a degree level education or for anything less than a highly skilled post. UK employers would not advertise such posts abroad as there is no chance of candidates being granted permission to work in the UK to fill low, semi or non skilled posts, or if they don’t have a degree level education and many years work experience in that field.

Has anybody used a mac with the Spanish keyboard and the Spanish language interface?

I’m looking for a laptop to buy for a friend who’s primary language is Spanish. Has anybody used a Mac with the Spanish language interface? What can you tell me about it and would you recommend it?

admin answers:

I have only used the Spanish language and input option for a short time. I use English and Simplified Chinese language and input options often. The Mac OS X default installation gives anyone the option to choose Spanish language for the OS, the applications that installed with the OS (such as iTunes, DVD Player, TextEdit, etc.), and for most third-party applications as well as Spanish input. For example, Microsoft Office has multi-lingual capability. Once you change the system language and input, your Office applications will show menus, dialog boxes and error messages in that language. This is much better than Windows Vista where you have no option to change the language unless you buy the Business or Ultimate Edition.

A Spanish physical keyboard is helpful but not essential. Typically, you would only have a Spanish keyboard if you bought the computer in a country that has Spanish as the first language. I have a French Canadian keyboard but it types fine in English or Chinese so long as I remember what will happen with those few keys that are different. A Mac sold in China will have an English keyboard as there is no such thing as a Chinese keyboard. The key selection in Chinese is based on Pinyin rather than characters and then the system will display a series of character choices on screen that correspond to the Pinyin sound. Complicated but it works.

Some keyboards will give you the need to memorize certain key-combinations that could change because of the new arrangement of keys. For example, with a French keyboard, the Q and A keys are switched so if you want to select all, you press command Q and if you want to quit an application, you press command A. You can see a picture of an Apple USB keyboard from a few years ago at the link below. I hope the link works since I had to reconstruct it as it doesn’t load directly here in China behind the Great Firewall.

Here is the skinny from the Mac OS Help Guide:

About using other languages on your computer
You can change the language shown in menus and dialogs; see dates, times, and numbers displayed according to the conventions of a geographic region; and even write in a language that uses a different writing system (or “script”) from yours without having the keyboard that’s designed for that language. You set these options using International preferences (choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click International). Choose “Spanish” for the Americas and “Spanish ISO” for the Spanish of Spain,

If you set up your computer to write in more than one language or to type special characters (for example, mathematical symbols or arrows), the Input menu appears as a flag on the right side of the menu bar. When you want to type in another language or type special characters or symbols, you choose an item from the Input menu.

You can also view multilingual text documents on your computer. Applications that support Unicode, a worldwide standard for encoding multilingual text, can display any language. Other applications may not support all languages and you may see missing or strange characters in the text. If you have trouble viewing multilingual text, open the document using a Unicode application, such as TextEdit.

The applications that came with your computer let you write in any language that Mac OS X supports. However, not all applications let you change the language shown in menus and dialogs. To see what languages an application supports, select the application icon, then choose File > Get Info, and click the Languages triangle.

admin answers:

It’s relatively simple to create books, notes, and parchments with the construction set.

Start the construction set and load “oblivion.esm”
Once it loads, on the left in the object window u can find the category “book” under the “items” main category. Highlight “book” and a list of selections will appear.
Right click on any book listed and choose “Edit” (For this we’ll choose AgnarJournal…first on the list. If u want a different image than the book (like the parchment scroll instead u can use AndreLetter instead)
Replace the ID with one of your own choosing (we’ll call the ID “TheLie” with no spaces)
Then replace the title which will appear in the game when u encounter it (we’ll call it “The Lie” with a space)
For scrips we will want to replace “DiveRockScript” with “NONE”
U can set the weight to whatever u want. (For this one we’ll change it to 0.1 for 1/10th of a Kg…or whatever the Oblivion weight system is).
If u want it to cost money to buy and sell set a price (For this one we’ll change it to 500…expensive rare book u know)
“Teaches” will let u make the book add some skill to the player character.
U can ignore the .nif and .dds selections since u already chose an existing item and they should have selections already made.
Tick “scroll” if u want it to read like a web page instead of a book. This might not look so good if u have the icon and item look like a book though. But if u chose the “AndreLetter” scroll it is appropriate.
In the “Book Text” area enter whatever u want the book to say. Very minimal HTML can be used. U can get an idea of this from the existing text. And it’s easy to just replace the text between the HTML commands. So for this we’ll replace “Entry 1:” with “Big Fat Lie” and replace the first paragraph of text beginning “When I took….” with “I sell air conditioners to iglu dwellers.” We’ll delete the remainder of the text. (of course u will want to create your own story instead and u may well use more space than was originally there).
After u are finished writing, press OK. A nag message about check spelling will appear. It works like crap so I just always click cancel and continue without using it. Click OK again and your book is now saved.
U will now want to place your book somewhere in the game. U can either place it somewhere where the player character can pick it up, or u can add it to a vendor’s goods for sale. Since placement in the worldspace is simpler, we will do that this time.
In the “cell view” window we want to select a cell to place the item. Usually “interiors” is selected by default as a worldspace. Near the top of the list is “AleswellInn”. Right click on “AleswellInn” and select “view”. In the “render” window the model of the interior of the Aleswell Inn will appear. For better viewing press “A” to light it up. By using “shift”, “spacebar” and mouse movement u can move around the model. Click on the model and scroll in and move to where the bar counter is amply visible. We will drag and drop the book onto the bar.
Go into the Object Window and click and hold on your newly created “TheLie” book. Drag it into the render window and position it above the bar counter. (Make sure it isn’t above any mugs). Then press “F” to drop it to the surface of the bar counter.

Your new book is now placed in the game ready for your player character to come in and read or take it.

Now click the save icon at the top of the window (looks like an old floppy disk). Name it, press “save” and you’re done.
Exit the Construction Set and start your game. At the launcher screen’s data area, tick the box next to the name u gave the plugin, accept it. Now play the game and navigate your player character to the Aleswell Inn. Go inside and your book should be laying on the bar counter where u can access it.

Whew! I think this was the longest answer I ever wrote on this site. Hope it helps u out.

If you know people who have BlackBerries who you text a lot and like qwerty keyboards, then a BlackBerry would be ideal – they obviously do have the qwerty keyboards and you can send messages to those people for free through BBM (BlackBerry Messenger).

However, if you want a phone with easy access to loads of apps and games, then a BlackBerry may not be for you, as BlackBerry App World is pretty limited and although it does have some decent stuff, not all apps are supported by all devices (so you may be able to have it on a Bold 9700 but not a Curve 8520, as an example).

If you do go for a BlackBerry, I’d definitely go for the latest one – the Bold 9900/9930 (depending on where you live). Not only does it have the latest software, but it comes with a good touchscreen, bigger keyboard and a 5MP Camera (an improvement for BlackBerry, whereas most other handsets have 2mp or 3.2mp cameras). It is also the thinnest BlackBerry out there, and with 8GB of built in expandable storage, you’ve got plenty of space to play with. One downside though is that the Amazon Music Store App doesn’t appear to work on them, as mine dissapeared mysteriously after just hours of switching the phone on, and was not supported by my “system administrator” (though I don’t know what exactly this meant, it basically didn’t work as that was the error message I recieved). It is also pretty quick and great on the internet, with its 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor. There is also NFC in there too. On any BlackBerry, Facebook is always at hand with a good built in Facebook app, which is also great for uploading pictures. YouTube and Twitter are also in there among others, along with a forms of Word, PowerPoint and Excell. 720p HD video recording is also squeezed in there.

At the end of the day, it all depends on your preferences of what you want out of your phone. I personally surprised myself – I’ve always been one for games, but even though this is limited on my Bold 9900, I am still really enjoying the phone so far. If you’re looking for Apps, I personally find that Apples App Store beats them all (having an iPod touch, and had experience with the Android store, Apple store and BlackBerry Store), and along with the handy gift vouchers (as I am sure you will know about), so an iPhone is probably best for you (especially with the iPhone 5 coming out soon, and the iPhone 4 becoming cheaper).

You and friend may be using different versions of messenger.

Messenger “9″ 1st version was in Beta (testing) form. The newest version is not, But it’s not working well either. Stick to 8.1 until they work out the Bugs. Including people using 8.1 trying to message ones with 9 or reverse they are having compatibility problems; like text not showing, pictures not showing.Chat rooms not found or opening.
You need to remove version 9 completely 1st to Get version 8 to work.

Several criteria determine the amount of traffic your website gets but by far the most important are to have a good search engine ranking and good links to your site.

Search engines use a complicated and secret algorithm to determine which sites are placed where in the rankings but there are several tricks you can employ to boost you ranking.

There’s lots of articles on the net to do with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) but I ignore all of them and do things my way. This seems to work as every site I’ve created ranks within the top 6 on Google even when there’s millions of results found. A site I created less than a week ago is already ranked number 1 by Yahoo and Google.

These are some of my tips…

– GIVE YOUR PAGE A GOOD TITLE TAG –
One of the first things a search engine looks at is the title tag of the page. When writing the tag use the same words people are likely to key in when using a search engine. For example, if your page is about space travel then a title such as “Space Travel – Be a Shuttle Rocket Tourist and Journey to the Moon” is much better than “All about flying to the moon and back”. Why? Because the first tag includes words people are likely to use in a search engine such as space, travel, shuttle, rocket, tourist, journey and moon.

– GIVE YOUR PAGE A RELEVANT NAME –
Search engines look at page names. If your domain was mydomain.com then a page name such as mydomain.com/space-travel will do much better than mydomain.com/section1/part2/page3.

– USE THE DESCRIPTION TAG –
Some search engines including Google support this tag – others don’t.

Compare a Yahoo search for ‘Black Eyed Peas’ to a Google Search. Both of them find blackeyedpeas.com but Yahoo describe it as “… Multi-platinum 2-time Grammy-winners The Black Eyed Peas cross an historic threshold as their hit … The Black Eyed Peas, Sergio Mendes, John Legend, Justin Timberlake and others …”. Google uses the description tag and describes it as “Official site includes videos, message boards, tour dates, and photo gallery. Additional content is available to members.”

– USE THE ALT TAG –
Some search engines ignore the alt tag, others include it when spidering your site. Not only that but some visually impaired users and power-surfers who turn off images rely on alt tags.

– FLASH ANIMATION / SCRIPTING / DHTML –
Spiders are unable to follow these linking systems. If all your pages are linked using Flash, DHTML or scripts then the spider won’t follow the links and your pages won’t get indexed. If you’re designing your site this way the least you can do it to include conventional text links to the main pages of your site and ideally to a Site Map that contains text links to every page.

– SPLASH PAGES –
These are the animated front pages to a site, usually nothing there other than an animation and a ‘Skip Intro’ link. Spiders don’t like Splash and as this is the doorway to your site think carefully before creating one.

– DOORWAY PAGES –
These are pages that exist on a site but are not accessible to the visitor, if someone tries to access the page they are redirected elsewhere. Historically webmasters created such pages and stuffed them full of popular keywords and phrases.

Spiders have wised up to Doorways and there’s nothing better for getting yourself pushed right down in the rankings or kicked out altogether than use of Doorway Pages.

– HIDDEN TEXT –
Some web pages hide text by printing white text on a white background for example. Often such text has nothing at all to do with the site but is just a list of popular words and phrases used to draw people to the site. Spiders can spot tricks like these and will penalise sites that employ such tactics.

– PUT A HEADING ON YOUR PAGE –
The heading should closely match the page title. You need to format the heading as a Heading Style and not simply use bold and underlined text.

– REPEAT KEYWORDS AND PHRASES –
Include in the text of your page several instances of keywords and phrases people may use in a search engine. Using the space travel example your page should include words such as space, travel, fly, moon, space-tourist and so on. Repeat them frequently but don’t overdo it.

– USE OF THE KEYWORD TAG –
This is something that’s falling out of favour with search engines. Originally this was a useful tag for ensuring your page contained variants of words, particularly those that are often mis-spelled (e.g. Britney, Britany, Brittany, Spears, Spiers etc). I haven’t used this tag for some time and I’ve heard people say it can be detrimental to search engine rankings.

– AVOID 404 (PAGE NOT FOUND) ERRORS –
Spiders hate these and after finding one or two on your site will leave it. Don’t rely on an E404 page to take visitors to a designated page when the target page is missing.

– ADD YOUR SITE TO DIRECTORIES –
You can add your site to appropriate categories in online directories. There’s hundreds of them altogether but the 4 main ones are…

http://www.wikidweb.com/

http://www.dmoz.org/

http://directory.google.com/

There’s an extensive list here… Http://www.seocompany.ca/directory/free-web-directories.html

– SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION –
Google dominates the search engine market, Yahoo and MSN are the other two key players. A lot of the others use Google.

If you can get your site indexed by these three then you’ve pretty much covered all your bases. Rather than waiting for the spiders to find you it may help to add your site to the submission lists.

http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=WSDD2

– ESTABLISH GOOD LINKS –
This is the most important factor of all. You need lots of relevant and ‘respected’ pages linking back to yours as each link scores bonus points in the rankings algorithm. The best links are those from trusted sites that are themselves established. For example, if the space travel site has links from NASA, the European Space Agency, ABC News and the like it will give it a serious boost in the rankings. One link from NASA would be worth more than a whole bunch of links from less relevant sites.

It’s worth taking the time and effort to get links from as many sites as possible. Visit relevant sites and e-mail the webmaster with details of your site.

Because links are vitally important your site has to be make people want to link to it. I make it a policy to never link to sites that have pop-ups and I’m sure many other people do too.

– HAVE A GOOD SITE –
When creating your site think how it’s going to appear to visitors. Bear in mind different people use different browsers and have different connection speeds. A large page might look fantastic to someone with a fast connection will be a real pain to someone with a slow connection. If you need to put advertising on your site then make it relevant and discreet – one thing guaranteed to get someone off your site is to have pop-ups and ‘in yer face’ advertising, can you think of any successful site that employs these tactics?

If your site is an informative one then make it so visitors can get the information they want quickly – don’t go for Flash intros and complicated menus and use only common fonts, if the font isn’t on a visitors computer their browser will use the default font instead.

Navigation must be easy with every page having a link back to the homepage and don’t use frames, they’re seriously outdated, users don’t like them and spiders ignore them.

Avoid cluttering your site, spread it out or onto more pages. Keep the text brief, unless it’s something the visitor wants to read they’ll soon get bored and go off to another site.

– REMEMBER WHY PEOPLE USE THE INTERNET –
Ignoring porn and all that stuff, the primary use of the internet is for information so make your pages informative. The space travel website could include information about the universe, each of the planets in the solar system, a history of space flight and so on. This will generate a lot more traffic which in turn is likely to lead to more links and ultimately a higher ranking.

– IGNORE SEO COMPANIES –
You probably receive e-mails from companies offering to get you higher rankings in the search engines. Their number one concern isn’t your site but their balance sheet, treat them the same as you would with an e-mail for Viagra and hit delete. They do work to an extent but not by doing anything you can’t do for free. Google get e-mails from companies offering to help rank their own site, see what else Google have to say about these companies… Http://www.google.com/webmasters/seo.html

– CONSIDER ADWORDS –
You pay for these, how much you pay is up to you. If someone enters a search phrase that matches your adwords then your ad is displayed on the results page. If more than one ad matches then they’re displayed in the order of who pays most for their adwords.

– SPREAD THE WORD –
Just tell people about your site and add posts in relevant forums, blogs etc.

– BE PATIENT –
In general the longer a site is around the better it does in the search engine rankings, largely because as time passes more and more sites will link to it. If your site relates to a popular subject you may find it ranks low down to start with then climbs steadily in the rankings, it could take years before you have a good ranking.

– THE END –
Hope this gives you something to go on and you get the traffic you want.
